I joined my first college pick-em contest this year. There was no money on the line, only pride. I started out of the gate doing well but there were a sufficiently large number of upsets (in my eyes) that I steadily lost ground on those who are actually good at predicting the winners of college football games. As my brother is fond of saying: "that ball bounces funny," which is why I don't actually bet on sports and not on football in particular.
Nevertheless, I finished in the top 25% (roughly) of those who participated in this year's contest. Not too bad for a hack economist.
