A university's requirement that overweight undergraduates take a fitness course to receive their degrees has raised the hackles of students and the eyebrows of health and legal experts.

I had to take 2 quarters of swimming instruction -- despire the everpresent risk of drowning in an 8-ft deep pool -- as an undergrad back in the 1960s because I couldn't swim. I can't feel much sympathy for overweight undergrads today being exposed to exercise.Post a Comment
