Last night's game was an instant classic. There were three games within the game - early on when USC dominated for the first full quarter, the middle of the game when the Dawgs took over and went ahead by what felt like a very comfortable lead, and the last quarter when the Dawgs started to unravel a little bit but stood firm when they needed to - blocked PAT and the fourth and goal in the last thirty seconds.
The referees again seemed to call things a bit one sided - a personal foul on one of our defenders for a "horse collar" tackle which wasn't but at least two no-calls on USC tackles that were much more violent.
The crowd was great as usual and the USC fans did their part. I don't have a lot of hatred for USC although I always look forward to the game because it is often a close border-war SEC battle.
I would like to see the defense make a bit more sure tackles and would like to see our linebackers do a bit more controlling the middle. I was glad to see us finally, and I mean finally, use our speed in innovative ways, such as the reverse to Smith for the touchdown run. I have been clamoring for such plays for the past year-plus.
I will post some pictures in the next day or so.
Here's hoping that UGA can carry on good things in Fayetteville next week.
