What's wrong with this picture?

It took me a while, but I think I figured it out.



This is a screen shot taken from the Sports Business Journal's website. It looks like they entered these data in Excel, which in the infinite wisdom of Microsoft wants to reformat cell entries into the format it wants rather than the format the user wants.

In this case, was it an Excel glitch that put the first age group to be "17-Dec" rather than "17-12"?

Microsoft did wonders for the world but MS Office can be extremely frustrating and I have seen plenty of examples where Office slipped something into a document through the auto-formatting that was unintended and ultimately makes everyone look bad.
