This article in the Tennessean reports about a Jack Daniels bottle collection that was confiscated because the state liquor enforcement thought the collector was a "bootlegger," which seems to cast aspersions on real bootleggers.
The confiscation of private property is distasteful enough, although we seem to be immune to the outrage it would have engendered in years past. However, an interesting statement in the story:
One Friday of every month, the company distributes a complimentary bottle of whiskey to each of its workers. Many keep those bottles and other bottles they have collected over the years.
I grew up a bout a hundred miles from Lynchburg and didn't know about the free bottle a month.
That's not a bad perk.
