Just so the rest of the world knows, there was no rice run this morning at the Concord (NC) Target. We didn't have any romaine lettuce but there was plenty of rice and the prices seemed reasonable, although I didn't purchase any five pound bags to lay back for the coming apocolypse. ![]() ![]() ![]() I understand that the rice runs of last week might have been correlated with concentrations of certain ethnicities and their native menu, however I wonder if the whole rationing issue was essentially manufactured by the media. I find it interesting how quick Walmart intervened with quotas rather than trucking in rice, raising price a little, and staving off the rice run. Perhaps it is easier to use quotas (we know the government often uses quotas in international trade and so forth), but quotas introduce inefficiencies and dead weight loss.
