Some interesting facts about primary and secondary education...
Average expenditures approaching $10,000 per student per year?
That means that the average public school charges about half of what a high-end private school like Greenhill School charges.Post a Comment
The question then becomes, "Is Greenhill twice as good as a public school?" The answer is unequivocally no. Greenhill is much more than twice as good. While Greenhill's version of a high school regularly produces students who go on to obtain advanced degrees at IV League Universities, the average public school regularly produces teenage pregnancies and drug addicts.
The poor would probably be better off if they were given vouchers equivalent to what would be spent on their child. Then, they could apply that voucher to the school of their choice, public or private. I don't see how the poor will ever become more educated if their children continue to be taught by individuals who have such limited skill-sets that they would choose to teach in k-12 public schools.
