I came across this report on workplace mortality rates which includes this table:
I was surprised at how much more likely a man is to die on the job. This is partly explained by self-selection: men often take on jobs that are more dangerous (either because of supply or demand side influences) and women self-select into safer jobs. Nevertheless, the differences between men and women is striking.
