One would think a coaching job at Harvard would be a relatively safe existence. Outside of crew and a few other sports, Harvard seems to have a reputation (well-earned or not) of being less concerned about athletics than, say, the University of Tennessee.
Yet, even Harvard has its limits - the mens basketball coach was let go after 16 years on the job. Unfortunately, the last five seasons have been losing seasons and the Crimson can't have that:
Sullivan, the dean of Ivy coaches, leaves with a 178-245 record and the most victories in Harvard history. Under his direction, the Crimson won more games during the last 12 years than any other league school except for perennial powers Pennsylvania and Princeton, which have won or shared all but two of the last 45 titles.
