Warren's Telecommunications Ticker reports the following:
A proposed White House FY 2008 budget would double FCC spending for oversight of the Universal Service Fund, add $2 billion in interoperability funds and spend $426.3 million on the digital converter box program, according to documents submitted Mon. to Congress. We are going to spend almost a half a billion dollars so that folks can receive HDTV signals that the Congress is forcing us to consume? I wonder which company gets to make converter boxes and how much they will cost per unit? Hmmmmm....
