Forgiven or forgotten? And does it matter anyway?

Not being in Virginia, the thoughts and ideas of James Webb might have been more clearly discussed up there than what we heard in Texas. On the other hand, we heard plenty about the gaffes and statements of George Allen.

In this 1999 The American Enterprise article concerning West Point is this little paragraph:
Among the most trenchant critics of sexual integration is James Webb, a Naval Academy graduate and former Secretary of the Navy, whose essay "Women Can't Fight" remains the classic exposition of the theme. "There is a p "And their presence at institutions dedicated to the preparation of men for combat command is poisoning that preparation." (One cadet suggests "it's kind of a waste" to put women through summer infantry exercises, in light of the prohibition on women in combat.)
Interesting.
