Probably very few people outside of the aquaculture industry. How do I come to this conclusion? From this recent USDA report that starts with the following paragraph:
Aquaculture production is a billion-dollar industry, with sales of fish, shellfish and related products growing by 11.7 percent over the past seven years, according to results of the 2005 Census of Aquaculture.
Let's see. We have a roughly 12 trillion dollar economy and aquaculture therefore accounts for roughly 1,000,000,000/12,000,000,000,000 = 0.00833% of this great economy.
Granted, I would love to have one percent of the aquaculture industry, but there are only 4300 aquaculture farms, defined as having more than $1000 in sales per year.
