This Spiegel story looks at recovering the U.S.S. Macon, a Naval zepplin that carried four biplanes and recovered them in midflight using a trapeeze hanging under the zepplin.
A trapeeze under a blimp that catches biplanes? Hmmm...I have to search around for more information on this technology. There were a lot of man-hours spent on the technology of zepplins. In the end, we didn't use Zepplins the way it was imagined at one time, yet where did all that knowledge go?
