Our stadium plans have been revealed here in Arlington and the Cowboys are essentially taking over central Arlington. The city isn't all that high on the aesthetics ranking anyway, but after they get done building the stadium in 2009, Arlington will really look like crap. I am working on some google satellite images to give you a flavor of what it will look like.
But the insanity isn't just in the water here in Texas. Now, the city of Anaheim has plans to build a 75,000 person stadium for the NFL team that will be stupid enough to try to make another go of it in Los Angeles - come on, they already have two professional football teams USC and UCLA (ahem)...
From this story:
The city of Anaheim has unveiled its pitch for an NFL team, with officials detailing plans for a new stadium on the parking lot outside the Angels' ballpark. "We have an economic impact report approved for a 70,500-seat state-of-the-art stadium," John Nicoletti, the city's external affairs manager, told reporters during a presentation Tuesday. "We are working with the NFL to finalize our term sheet for their upcoming owners meeting May 24-25 in Washington, D.C."
Just about the time everyone gets done building their new stadiums (rumor has it that Minnesota will finally get a new stadium, but the Marlins won't), it will be time to rebuild again. Let's see, the Georgia Dome was built in 1993, so it is getting a little long in the tooth. Another ten years tops, and then the Falcons will start griping that they need a new stadium or they just can't stay competitive.
