Pork is complicated?

Pork Industry Announces New Promotion Focus

The National Pork Board is playing down its 20-year-old "The Other White Meat" campaign in favor of one called "Don't be blah," aimed at promoting pork as a more contemporary mealtime choice. The new campaign is aimed at increasing pork consumption, particularly among urban women ages 25 to 49, who research indicates perceive pork as "grandma's Sunday dinner" and believe pork is "more complicated to prepare than beef or poultry," a story in today's New York Times reports.

A multimedia campaign that plans to triple pork promotion spending was prepared by the Richards Group in Dallas, TX. A Pork Board release says the campaign's goal is to "establish pork as an everyday meal solution that offers excitement, great taste, variety and convenience." "The Other White Meat" campaign has served as the pork industry's marketing focus since 1986.

Pork is complicated? Pork is exciting? Grandma simply cooked, she wasn't a miracle worker. If you don't know how to cook, experiment a little and figure it out. It really isn't all that hard.

It is a good thing I am not a marketer, because I would argue the health benefits and price of pork, unless there isn't much of a difference between pork and beeef.
