From the picture, in 1960 out-of-pocket expenditures were somewhere around $500 and in 2003 out-of-pocket expenditures were approximately $1000. In 1960, per-capita expenditures were approximately $1000 and in 2003 they are more than $5000? I am not a health economist but it does not seem that this trend is viable in the long-run.
Comments:
What's the point of having each side on different scales? What does the picture look like if both scales are the same? alternatively, give the source so I can do it myself.
