Reading Update II...
Also finished reading "Adam Smith Goes to Moscow," by Walter Adams and James Brock (1993), which is a dialogue in the Platonic tradition between the prime minister of a newly "freed" Eastern European country and a Chicago-style economist. It is a good read and I would recommend it for two reasons. First, it is full of talking points that make for good zingers to non-free market folks - much like Friedman's "Essays on Positive Economics" and Smith's "Wealth of Nations" are full of good metaphors and one-or-two liners. Second, the book is full of classic Russian and East European sayings - which I love - such as "to cut down trees, woodchips must fly," "a chasm can't be crossed in two leaps," and "pessimism is informed optimism," to name a few.
